name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10
I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, "if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek
My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2
We are all sick, hurting, or lacking in one thing or another but God has not changed one bit and He is still a God
of miracles. He has promised for those who are called by His name that if they will humble themselves and pray and seek His
face and turn from their wicked ways then He will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. We have an excellent example of this in the life of King Hezekiah:
In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of
Amoz, went to him and said to him, "Thus says the LORD: 'Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.' " Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, and said, "Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart,
and have done what is good in Your sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly. And
the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying, "Go and tell Hezekiah, 'Thus says
the LORD, the God of David your father: "I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days
fifteen years. "I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of
Assyria, and I will defend this city." ' "And this is the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do this
thing which He has spoken: "Behold, I will bring the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down with the sun on the sundial
of Ahaz, ten degrees backward." So the sun returned ten degrees on the dial by which it had gone down. This is the writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick and had recovered from his sickness: Isaiah 38:1-9
still gives grace to the humble and He contends with the proud. Healing is still part of the atonement but the method that
God chooses to use as well as the timing for the healing is His business. Nevertheless Gods word is unchanging:
Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness-by whose stripes
you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. 1
you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility,
for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the
devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him,
steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered
a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory
and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:5-11
is able to perfect, establish, strengthen, heal and settle each one of His children if they will turn from their wicked ways. Its is amazing what God considers to be wicked ways. Since every person is different
and God knows the heart and attitude on each one only God can define for each person what is his wicked ways. Both Peter and
Judas betrayed Jesus by their actions and words but the Lord gave Peter the grace to return back to him but not Judas. It is a fact that some sins cause God not to hear the prayers of children for healing
because He has brought judgment against them just like in the life of David concerning his illegitament son due to his relationship
with Bathsheba. The bible records:
David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin; you
shall not die. "However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to
the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die."
Then Nathan departed to his house. And the LORD struck the child that
Uriah's wife bore to David, and it became ill.
therefore pleaded with God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground. So the elders of his house arose and went to him, to raise him up from the ground. But he would not, nor
did he eat food with them.
Then on the seventh day it came to pass that the child died. And the servants of David
were afraid to tell him that the child was dead. For they said, "Indeed, while the child was alive, we spoke to him, and he
would not heed our voice. How can we tell him that the child is dead? He may do some harm!"
When David saw that his servants were whispering, David perceived that the child was dead. Therefore David said to
his servants, "Is the child dead?" And they said, "He is dead." So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself,
and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house; and when he
requested, they set food before him, and he ate. 2 Samuel 12:13-20
good news is that God is still gracious and kind and He loves to hear and answer pray to forgive the sins of the righteous
and to heal the circumstances and hearts of those who are suffering or are sick. His word is unchanging:
anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is
anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the
name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins,
he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one
another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature
like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. James
will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there
shall be showers of blessing. Ezekiel 34:26
Yes, God has
promised to give showers of blessings on the earth such as the Latter Rain revival of the early 50s which was a catalyst for
later Pentecostal movements such as the Brownsville/Pensacola Revival and the Toronto Blessing/Laughing Phenomenon or Third
Wave Movement. In this move of the
Spirit there is an emphasis on the imparting of spiritual gifts by the laying on of hands and emotion filled "manifestations
of gifts of the Holy Spirit." In 1948, the Latter Rain Revival began in the midst of the post-World War II awakening. The movement also bears similarity to the
movement that arose at Azusa
was led by William Branham and Oral Roberts. Oral Roberts was a Pentecostal Holiness Preacher who started his own independent
healing ministry in 1947 (Riss, 107). William Branham began his healing ministry in the fall of 1946. He claimed to be divinely
inspired by an angel and his reputation as a healer grew quickly (Riss, 106).
fall of 1947, Branham held meetings in Vancouver, B.C. and the meetings were attended by many pastors and teachers (Riss,
106). Among those that attended were people from North Battleford and they "returned to supply the spark that ignited the controversial Latter Rain movement" (Riss, 106).
Therefore, the Latter Rain Revival actually originated at Sharon Orphanage and Schools in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada. Former Pentecostal Assemblies minister George Hawtin, and P.G. Hunt and Four-Square Gospel minister Herrick Holt assembled
the students (Melton 84). The Latter Rain revival was very similarly to the healing movement in that it emphasized the unity
of the body of Christ along with the eschatological hope that Christ was coming again soon (Riss, 112).
for a new revival such as the healing movements by Roberts and Branham and the Latter Rain movement, stemmed from the perceived
"dryness" of the Pentecostal faith. Pentecostalism was lacking in the manifestations of the Spiritual gifts and the Latter
Rain revival focused primarily on the Spirit so it catered to exactly what people wanted (Riss, 113). In 1949, Assemblies
of God and Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada tried to suppress the revival and the revival was forced out of the Assemblies
of God church.
for denouncing the revival according to the Assemblies of God were "(1) it relied too heavily upon present-day apostles and
prophets (i.e., a self-appointed charismatic leadership); (2) it practiced the confessing and pronouncing of forgiveness by
one member upon another; (3) it advocated the practice of bestowing spiritual gifts by the laying-on-of-hands; and (4) it
distorted Scripture so as to arrive at conclusions not generally accepted by members of the Assemblies" (Melton, 84).
continued to spread and ministers left the Assemblies of God church and took part in the Latter Rain movement. In the 1950s,
William Branham and Oral Roberts were very influential in encouraging the spread of the Latter Rain revival. The revival died
down slowly and most people considered the Latter Rain movement dead along with all of its doctrines. In actuality, the Latter
Rain movement had quite an impact on Pentecostal beliefs and certain Latter Rain doctrines can be seen in Pentecostalism such
as: the fivefold ministry, the laying on of hands, the feast of Tabernacles and the foundational truths of Hebrews 6:1-2 (Riss,
124). Manifestations of the Latter Rain movement can be seen in the Vineyard movement and most recently the Toronto Blessing
and Pensacola Revival. These movements are not new but really just resurgences of Latter Rain.
Rain Revival was characterized by healings, the laying on of hands, emphasis on spiritual gifts, fasting, prayer, prophecy,
allegiance to the five-fold ministry (Ephesians 4:11), importance of the Jewish feast of Pentecost and Tabernacles, distrust
of denominations, manifestations of the sons of God, and the returning of Jesus Christ in accordance with the outpouring of
from the Assemblies of God, the Latter Rain Revival became increasingly anti-denominational (Melton, 418). They considered
their beliefs to be a continuation or addition of the pentecostal movements (Melton, 418). Now all the churches have independent
and autonomous congregations (Melton, 418)
Rain movement was Pentecostal in nature, yet it was contrasting the old Pentecostalism. NOLR (New Order of the Latter Rain)
was more emotional and vibrant in comparison. Also, NOLR believed that spiritual gifts were received by the laying on of hands
in contrast to "tarrying" for the Holy Spirit as the old Pentecostals did (Melton, 532).
Branham has occasionaly been referred to as the founder of the Latter Rain revival due to his influential role in the revival's
spread. Branham and Oral Roberts encouraged the spread of NOLR with their healing ministry (Melton, 84). Branham was also
seen as the prophet (Elijah) of the movement. Franklin Hall was a healing evangelist and his emphasis on fasting and prayer
were also instrumental in the development of the Latter Rain revival (Melton, 532).
winds of change are blowing all across this land. They are blowing and bringing great revival and deliverance to the sheep
and the lambs. They are bringing the greatest revival ever seen. The one before the Coming of the Lord! The winds are blowing
in your very direction. Right at you and more. The rains of the Spirit are falling! They are falling in the Assembly of God
Churches, in the Church of God churches, in Vineyard Churches, in Independent Chruches. And even in Baptist churches. Receive
what the wind and the rain has to offer. God is offering great wisdom and peace
with many miracles and giftings. This is the new age of the Spirit not that of wayward men who have used their gifts and anointings
for selfish gain. This is their loss. They have been exposed to the Light of the Truth and found wanting. They have fallen
short of their calling and anointing. They have been exposed. They are about to pay a very exacting price for their waywardness.
winds are blowing all across this desolate land. It is bringing revival and deliverance and peace. It is bringing healings,
miracles, and change of circumstances. It is bringing the winds of change! Who but the wind of change could possibly bring
love and harmony to a dying world. That wind is the Person of the Holy Spirit. He is brining the change that men need. They
can't receive the truth except He touches them and brings healing to their thoughts, attitudes and heart. The awakening of
the earth is about to begin. It is bringing great earthquakes both spiritual and physical. It will see great revival and great
judgments. It will see the dividing of spiritual from sinew. It is not coming to wait for anyone. It will not be held or withheld.
It is coming as surely as the rain and the snow and the hurricane in due season. It is all coming!
of the Latter Rain will be seen with many signs and wonders and powerful circumstantial changes will take place with entire
nations coming to Christ in quick and massive order. Healing will be a commonplace thing with much deliverance and prophecies.
Many gifts will be given and stirred up in great numbers. People will be sent out in service in record numbers and masses
will come to know the Lord as never before not just in quantity of persons or souls but in quality of character, understanding
and the Presence of the Holy Spirit. Faith
for every kind of need and level of faith will be available for all who are hungry to receive. The religious who truly love
the Lord will also enter in. They will be called from every mainline church from North, South, East and West. They will surrender
their traditions and rules for the Truth and the Power of the Holy Spirit and becomes dynamos for the Gospel's Sake. This is the beginning of the end times. It is the hour of great rejoicing.
