"TEMPTATION"

The aura of a coming battle hangs silent. Yet I see nothing.
Donning the divine armor of God, a steadfast warrior makes
ready. Beyond the shadows temptation lurks.
I am not alone.
Primal emotions distract my path. I brace for the imminent
surge. Anger approaches in a hastening swirl as darkness
descends. The assault rides worldly wings.
I am trepid.
By the Sword of the Spirit, courages comes from above.
An evil presence circles on all sides at once. It moves ever
closer. Though a stranger, I know it well.
I do not fear.
A swift spark breaks from the umbra, malevolence riding in
its wake. The blade of deception is stained by blood of the
saints. Souls scarred from ages old and new.
I am stalwart.
With evil intent the mighty weapon rises above. Yet I refuse
to relent. The Breastplate of Righteousness is protector of man.
My heart leaps to defend His word.
I do not yield.
Immutable enemy, void of time's constraints. My Shield of
Faith is transparent and weary, betrayed by drifting thoughts.
Focus blurs while confusion reigns.
I am fading.
Resolve sinks completely with my strength. I yearn for my
Savior. The weapon smells of flesh, now dripping red.
A valiant fighter succumbs to sin.
I am not worthy.
Searing sorrow pierces my side, the swirl of darkness halts.
A thick cloud of dust dances as I bounce on the edge of
consciousness. Lurid demons stalk.
I am fallen.
Another saint for the wicked to devour. Cackles thrown at
the prostrate prey. Death brings a foul and pungent stench.
They mock at the ease, I cannot resist.
I am not able.
Yet the midnight splits from a heavenly light. The fearful
minions fly. My lifeblood spilling, glorious angels take hold.
Calm is found in their powerful grasp.
I am forgiven.
Renewal comes with but a touch of His sovereign hand.
Faith and Righteousness are carried by grace. Truth secures
for the long but temporal fight.
I am not afraid.
It is a battle that carries on. Lingering until Christ claims His
kingdom. Evil can never win against Salvation's undeniable
strength and eternal peace.
I am saved.
